Pedro Kominik is a Renaissance man of the 21st Century.

He is a singer, an actor, a stage director, playwright and columnist, production designer, television host and academic.

In his early youth, he discovered he had a distinctive countertenor voice, with a three-octave range, so he decided to work on it by studying opera and taking lessons to polish and enhance his vocal technique. He always enjoys singing repertory from different musical periods and decades: popular music from every genre that has been sung by legendary artists.

Pedro does not like to sing covers, though. Re-invention is key for him. He always looks for original ways to sing the songs: sometimes he changes the original rhythm or style to explore new possibilities, quoting composers from classical, jazz or latin backgrounds; sometimes he mashes them up with other pieces, and sometimes finding something new by merely jumping the gender barrier of whom is expected to do a particular song… and of course, all of the pieces are always adapted to his vocal range and temperament.

But just singing is not enough, so he became an actor, which gives him new elements to ace his stage performance. His concerts are always based on a script, which he writes on his own, evolving from a single theme to connect every musical piece to be presented each night, setting them to structure and a special sequence. This makes the audience embark on an emotional roller coaster throughout the performance, from light, comedic and satirical cabaret moments, to deep plunges of emotional depth during torch song numbers. 

Acting also makes him aware of how to make his entire body sing and communicate as well on the stage, performing as a single blast of energy; therefore, he not only attracts immediately the audience’s attention, but he also interacts with them constantly, creating a very unique feeling of a merger between a seasoned emcee and a sophisticated headliner at the same time. It’s no surprise that he calls Cabaret his home for a couple of decades now. In every performance, Pedro strives to leave a message, that will not only make people more aware of the world they live in, but to get in touch with their inner emotions and their true self. You will never see two performances alike, each shining with their own light.
